The Pequot Running Club is a group of fitness-conscious runners of all ages and abilities. There are some who run strictly for fun and recreation, and there are some who are pretty serious competitors. The common thread is the enjoyment of running with a group of mellow, easygoing, interesting and interested friends.
The Club, founded in 1978, meets for runs three days a week. Join us for as few or as many of these group run opportunities as you’d like.
We meet every Sunday at 8:10 am at the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club at 385 Center Street in Southport, just off I-95 Exit 19. There are several courses of different lengths from 2 miles to over 20 miles, all starting and finishing at the club. Groups informally arrange themselves to go out at different paces and distances.
We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 pm for evening runs. In the warmer months on Tuesdays we meet at Longshore Park in Westport and after the end of September we switch to Compo Beach.
We meet on Thursdays at 6:30 pm for an easy four to six and a half miles at the ASF Outdoors on the Post Road in Westport.
We have an annual Clambake for our members at Westport’s Compo Beach in August. This event is the highlight of our social season.
The Pequot Runners are the proud organization behind the acclaimed Thanksgiving Day 5 Mile Road Race and 2.6 mile walk through Connecticut’s Gold Coast. The race has become a holiday tradition throughout the region.
The Pequot Runners, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
